Good news! The new Metallica site MissionMetallica.com is up to give fans all the behind-the-scenes, making of the album, rough audio clip action that they have been clamoring for since the early days of the internet. Finally Metallica is giving you full access to the studio process… nope, sorry. Site’s down. Forget it. Yes, earlier today, a supposed “beta” version of “MissionMetallica.com was launched and within hours was pulled down. Apparently Lars discovered the webmaster wasn’t charging 3 dollars for every byte of information downloaded from the site as he had requested so the site was pulled. Oh, hey! Good news! The site is back up. I appears as though the webmaster rigged up a clear plastic bank-type vacuum tube that runs on a continuous loop through two walls in Lars’s office, then off to a closet somewhere and then back around into Lars’ office. The webmaster then dumped about 50 bucks in ones in there, sending them on their ever circular journey through Metallica headquarters, telling Lars that all that money flowing through the tube is money sent through the intertubes to download exclusive content. Lars was last seen sitting at his desk watching the money flutter by, slowly masturbating and slurring, “That’s right, dickweeds. Send me all of your money. Oh god! I love money so much.”
Now that the site is live, you can check it daily for updates, watch clips and hear exclusive tracks from the forthcoming Metallica record.
OK, not only do I hate Los Angeles for… well for pretty much every facet of its existence: Its sprawl, its pollution, it plasticine inhabitants, its terrarium-like weather patterns, its economy of insincerity. But now I also hate if for rubbing it in our noses that impromptu, one-night mega-groups never form in our clubs on random weekday nights. On May 8th, Camp Freddy, which is a cover band comprised of Chris Chaney and Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addiction, Matt Sorum of Velvet Revolver and GNR and Billy Morrison of the Cult, played at the Roxy in Los Angeles. Over the course of the evening they were joined on stage by Slash and Duff, Tommy Lee, Chester Bennington, Jerry Cantrell, Steve Jones and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols and Mark “I spray-on tan and care about who Lindsey Lohan canoodles with” McGrath.
I found the story linked off of FARK.com in the music section. If you follow the link there are some videos of the evening including:
Highway to Hell with Slash and Chester
Paradise City with Chester, Duff, Slash
Bodies with the two Sex Pistols, Duff, and Mark Mcgrath and Matt Sorum on backing vocals
