As mentioned on the show before, we’re all about rumors. We spread ‘em like Michael Vick spreads syphilis and fail. We spread ‘em like Rhesus monkeys spread the Mutaba virus and not even Dustin Hoffman can stop us. We spread ‘em like your mom spreads ‘em’” at the drop of a dime and for every kid in the neighborhood. We especially like to spread rumors when they are so beneficial to us. As I mentioned before, Slipknot and Disturbed were rumored to be headlining the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour, but Slipknot quickly put out a statement telling fans not to believe everything that they read. This put into question whether either band would take part. Well, another rumor has leaked, and that rumor comes with tour dates, places and who will play the rest of the bill. According to these unconfirmed dates, Slipknot, Disturbed, Mastadon and Five Finger Death Punch will play the White River Amphitheater on July 9th. They then move on to Sacramento to play down there on the 11th. This is good in a couple of ways. 1) White River is only about a two hour drive north. 2) That leaves the 10th open for a potential stop in Portland.

Again, this is all wild speculation and unabashed rumor spreading, but experience has taught me that when the rumor comes with tour dates, venues and opening acts, it ceases being a rumor pretty quick.

I gotta give it up to the guys in Blind Melon. They haven’t let the death of their lead singer, primary song writer and large reason why anyone listened to their band keep them from making new music. Blind Melon has reformed 13 years after the death of Shannon Hoon with a new lead singer. Some guy named Travis Warren will take over singing duties.  They plan to have a new record out this spring.

And have you ever listened to a great record and wondered what it would have been like to be in the studio while they were recording it? Of course you have. Well, I can’t put you in the studio with Van Halen during the recording of their first album, but I can play you the a cappella vocal track that just hit the internet yesterday.
