It’s an all Radiohead blog for you tonight. The stories may not all be specifically about Radiohead, but they’re all related in some way.

Have you ever wondered why Robert Plant quit making good music after 1975. Some people say it was the death of his son that killed his ability to make good music. Some people say it was the loss of John Bonham. I say it was an unpublicized attack on his ear drums by a man with an ice pick. Or maybe some sort of massive earwig infestation. Or maybe his eardrums were crushed under the pressure of his swelling brain caused by an over abundance of the self-importance hormone. Whatever it is, it’s clear that Robert Plant is now stone deaf. He is utterly without the ability to discern good music from the sound of three hippos humping in some sort of Serengeti gang bang.  How do I come to this conclusion? Simple. He doesn’t like Radiohead.

Apparently Plant was at a London bar recently when he told the manager to stop playing Radiohead, calling their music “rhyming crap.”  Of course, since it was Robert Plant asking, the bar staff changed the music immediately.  Someone who was there said, “They put on the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who they thought might be more up his street.  But he didn’t like their stuff either and said it was like a ‘nursery rhyme.’  He then said he wanted to listen to Captain Beefheart.”

Captain Beefheart was popular around the same time as Zep and is known for his surreal lyrics and harmonica skills.

And, Robert Plant isn’t the only one that hates Radiohead. So does Oscar, as in the little gold statue guy. Seems Oscar gave Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood a gigantic gold middle finger saying that his music for the movie “There Will Be Blood” was disqualified because “the majority of the music was not composed specifically for the film.” Same thing happened to Eddie Vedder who scored the movie Into The Wild.

Soundtracks that did make the cut include the music from Atonement, The Kite Runner, Michael Clayton, Ratatouille and 3:10 to Yuma.

And finally, you know how in movies whenever they show someone alone out in the desert you hear a lone coyote in the distance baying at the moon? Well this year’s Coachella Festival out in the desert of Southern California is going to sound a lot like that, except instead of some dude all by himself, it will be about 30 thousand drunk teenagers and instead of a coyote it will be some geriatric rock star who sounds less like a the lead singer of one of the best selling and most well known bands on the planet and more like a camel birthing a back hoe and instead baying at the moon, he’s playing the entirety of Dark Side of the Moon. Yes, Roger Waters will headline night 3 of the Coachella Festival and will play Dark Side in its entirety. That is running April 25th through the 27th and will also feature Jack Johnson, Kraftwerk, Portishead and the reunion of The Breeders. Organizers of Coachella are also confirmed that they will be hosting an East Coast festival called All Points West on August 8th to the 10th at New Jersey’s Liberty State Park.  Radiohead are rumored to be headlining.
