Let it never be said that record labels handle defeat with maturity and grace. After getting repeatedly (and deservedly) booted in the nuts by fans opting for the free (and questionably legal) option of downloading their favorite artists’ music on teh interwebz, the record industry was unceremoniously curb stomped by Radiohead when they decided to release “In Rainbows” on their website without the help EMI. And they made more money off “In Rainbows” than any of their past records. Of course, they were by no means required to cut EMI in on the deal since their contract had ended, however that didn’t keep EMI from getting all butt-hurt and lashing out. To make up some of that money they didn’t make off “In Rainbows,” EMI will be releasing a Radiohead “Greatest Hits” record, against the band’s will.
Ed O’Brien says, “They’re planning to do a greatest hits for April or May to coincide with our tour, that’s an interesting one. We won’t be doing any promotion for that, obviously.”
A quick update on the Scott Weiland story. Before checking into rehab he was missing Velvet Revolver shows and running his mouth about a Stone Temple Pilots reunion. After the whole rehab thing I kind of assumed that the STP reunion was just the heroin or cocaine or model glue or toad or whatever talking, especially since his story had yet to be corroborated by anyone else in the band, but it looks like he may not have been that high after all because we have a confirmed STP reunion show. The Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio on May 17th and 18th will feature a reunited STP along with Kid Rock, Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, Staind, Papa Roach, Seether, Flyleaf, Finger Eleven and more. If you can stand to stay in Ohio for an entire weekend, Tickets go on sale on February 23rd.
Question: If you woke one night from a dead sleep to find Bobby Brown in your bedroom shuffling toward your bed with his wang hanging out the pee-hole in his boxers and you realize that he is there to pee on you, would you be strong enough to leap out of the way before the stream hit your pillow like a ropey, wet hit man’s bullet? Could you croak out a command for him to alter his target? Or would you lay paralyzed with fear waiting to be hosed down?
Well, Dee Snyder knows what he would do because he’s been in that situation. Apparently both Dee and Bobby are on a Big Brother-style country music show called ‘Gone Country’ and, as Dee quickly discovered, Bobby walks (and pees) in his sleep.
Dee Snyder says, “I’m laying in my bed and all of a sudden I hear Bobby Brown stirring. He started walking over to my night table and he was getting his junk out. First of all I thought I was going to be raped by Bobby Brown then I was like, ‘He’s going to pee on me.’ I started snapping my fingers to get his attention and I’m shouting, ‘Bobby, Bobby, Bobby - that’s the toilet over there. Next thing he headed to the door of the room and was about to pee there - so I’m shouting no, no. His next stop was our closet, I was picturing him spraying all our clothes down, I’m like, no, no! Finally he went into the bathroom and heard it hit water, rather than tile or wall.”
