They may as well start calling the internet the “inter-trent” because he’s all over that damn thing. In fact, Trent has been more prolific in the last year than he has been for the last decade with his record label. The project he put together with Saul Williams, followed by a 36 track Nine Inch Nails record, coupled with a remix contest and a video contest and now we have yet another brand new song. Yesterday Trent made a new song called “Discipline” available for free through nin.com. Along with the new song, the band also offers free multi track files for remixing. Now, as cool as this is, some people are turning this whole thing into a Trent vs. Radiohead thing pointing out that when Radiohead put out their remix files, they did it through iTunes and they charged a buck a track.
People, this is why the left hasn’t had a firm grip on the country since Kennedy. Because there are so many little factions bitching because this person isn’t liberal enough, that person isn’t doing enough to save the environment, destroying their own movement from within. Rather than people hailing both for sticking it to record companies in varying degrees, one has to tear the other down because they aren’t giving their instruments away for free on Craigslist.
On Thursdays we do Vs. It’s a fairly new feature that some people love (because it gives them a chance to argue inane, artificial comparisons between two similar things with little more to back their argument than an opinion) and some people hate (because the thing they were rooting for got stomped in the vote- I’m looking at you, Chevy lovers.)
But one thing we try to keep in mind when choosing the opponents is whether it’s a fair fight, which is something that Spike TV apparently doesn’t concern themselves with, that and whether they shamelessly stole the concept from the Cort and Fatboy show. Now, I’m not going to make a big deal out of having my intellectual property ripped off by a CBS Corporation affiliate, because frankly I’ve grown accustomed to it. But what I will make a big deal out of is the fact that Spike thinks Linkin Park has a chance against the Foo Fighters.
Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards are coming up on of the award categories is titled Ballsiest Band. Spike has pitted Foo again Linkin Park and opened it up for a vote over at their web site.
You can watch the Foo Fighters win when the show airs June 22nd on Spike.
